Enter into His Rest

By Venessa Holtzhausen

Gen 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had
made.
Gen 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

There is a place of rest in YaHWeH. A place where He calls us to be in the physical, emotional and spiritual. God Himself needed to take rest from His work, how much more us, mere human beings?

Look at the following verse:
“It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever; for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day
He rested and was refreshed’” (Exodus 31:17).

The word for refreshed in Hebrew, naphash, literally means to breathe. To be refreshed as if by a current of air. Some scholars say that YaHWeH breathed out during the 6 day creation and breathed in on the 7th day. He gave Himself during the 6 day creation. First, He gave Light, which is of Himself-Life. He gave Word. He also blessed this day.

During our week, we labour hard, we give all of ourselves, we get exhausted. God gave us a day to be refreshed, to breath in.

Take time to rest from your work, breathe in on that day His Word, family time, joy, shalom and refresh yourself in His presence and your family’s.

The world system say: work harder, labour 7 days, etc… but with less money, poor health. It is a non-winning system. The system of God says, work 6 days, be refreshed on the 7th, rest, breathe in YaHWeH and as you do this, it will usher in the blessing of God for the new week.

Proverbs 13:22 A good man leaves an inheritance of moral stability and goodness to his children’s children, and the wealth of the sinner finds its way eventually into the hands of the righteous, for whom it was laid up.

Psalm 127:2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to take rest late, to eat the bread of anxious toil-for He gives blessings to His beloved in sleep
Enter into His rest, and He will take care of the rest.

Amen!
