Genesis.
Do we really get away with it?
By Venessa Holtzhausen
Gen 33:3 And he himself passed over before them and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.
Let’s go back to the blessing that Isaac bestowed upon Jacob.
Gen 27:28 May God give you—from the dew of the sky and from the fatness of the land—an abundance of grain and new wine.
Gen 27:29 May peoples serve you and may nations bow down to you. Be master over your brothers. May your mother’s sons bow down to you. May those who curse you be cursed and may those who bless you be blessed.”
May your mother’s sons bow down to you, so that would be Esau. But what happened here?
When Jacob and Esau met, who bowed before who? It was Jacob who bowed 7times. The number 7 also donates completion, a perfect number in the Scriptures. He did not only bow before Esau, he also bestowed gifts upon him. He blessed Esau.
You see, although Jacob was blessed by God, he had to make a full end to his trickery. He was in covenant with God, blessed by God, protected by God, had a name change. All the things we want, but there was one thing missing.
He had unsolved disputes between him and his brother. After this, they both went their own way.
We should learn from this. We THINK we can do what we want, but there are always consequences.
Gal 6:7 Do not be deceived—God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows, that he also shall reap.
Gal 6:8 For the one who sows in the flesh will reap corruption from the flesh. But the one who sows in the Ruach will reap from the Ruach eternal life.
Gal 6:9 So let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we don’t give up.
Let us not sow to the flesh, which is hatred towards your brother, gossip, evil deeds etc, because one day you will reap what you sowed and the fact is, you don’t always reap immediately after, sometimes it takes a year, two years, etc. Then you forgot about it already and you cannot understand why things happen.
Did you treat somebody unfairly, cheated somebody out of business or money, slandered your parents, spoke badly about spiritual leaders of YHWH, gossip etc. and now you don’t know why things are the way it is. Go and sit at the feet of Jesus, and let Him show you your faults and mishaps, so that you can get healing and forgiveness and above all, guard your mouth!!!!!
Eph 4:31 Get rid of all bitterness and rage and anger and quarreling and slander, along with all malice.
Eph 4:32 Instead, be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving each other just as God in Messiah also forgave you.
1Pe 3:9 Do not repay evil for evil or insult for insult, but give a blessing instead—it is for this reason you were called, so that you might inherit a blessing.
1Pe 3:10 For, “The one who loves life, wanting to see good days, must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit.
1Pe 3:11 He must turn away from evil and do good. He must seek shalom and pursue it.
